    1. Thank you Kay, I’m looking forward to wherever your travels take you in the New Year and of course reading about all the good food you will be sharing.

    1. Thank you Mad Dog, I hope that the coming year will bring lots of good times with your friends, delicious and inventive food, wine and of course a carajillo de cognac or two. 😀

    1. Thank you Julie, I know you two are looking forward to the arrival of your second grandchild, enjoy spending time with both of them in the New Year.

      1. They’re putting a bit of the kibash on our travels that’s for srue…but I think they are worth it 🙂
One day we’ll venture forth agian…the beach and the mountains will just have to do for now. I think Gregory is still getting over September’s big adventure…From the places we went, he enjoyed France and Switzerland the best…
I want to get him to Ireland as I know he’d love it…but like I say…future plans when babysitting slows down 🙂
Have a safe and happy eve!

    1. Thank you for your nice compliment on the photo, it was taken at our summer cottage in Maine but never published. I hope your year ahead is filled with more of your lovely artwork but do take time to enjoy come quiet minutes reading and whatever else brings you peace.

    1. Thank you for your wish Angie. I know you will be sharing lots of healthy recipes in the coming year, we can all use a little inspiration especially after the holidays.

    1. Thank you David. I can’t wait to see where you and Mark decide to travel next year, will it be back to Italy or somewhere else in Europe. Wherever, I know it will inspire looks of good eating. 🙂

    1. Thank you John, I’d like to click glasses with you and Mrs. KR some time with one of your good cocktails. Trying right now to decided where our adventures will take us next year. Our taste in travel is much the same, especially knowing that we have both done the same cruise, on the same cruise line but at different times. 😀

    1. Thank you Ronit for your nice wish. I’ll looking forward to all the good things you will be sharing in this new year. Sorry I didn’t answer sooner, I just found your comment in the spam file…don’t know what went wrong.

    1. Thank you Anna, the same to you and Liz. I’m sure your Italian dishes of pork and lentils will bring you lots of luck in the New Year. We have pork as well for my Italian husband and black eyed peas for my Southern background. 🙂

    1. Happy New Year Frank, When I’m on the dance floor at this evening’s New Year’s celebrations, I’ll be wishing I danced a little better, certainly not a ballroom dancer like yourself. 😀

    1. Hi Gary, thank you for your wish. We will be having dinner and dancing this evening until midnight but I’ll be yawning the whole time. I know my steak I’ll be served won’t be as good as the sirloin steak that you sous vide earlier this week.

  1. Well, our New Year is ten hours old, does not hurt a bit so far and allows me to wish you health, happiness and good fortune for the days just starting. And to all who read: please try to watch the Sydney Harbour midnight display thru’ YouTube or other! I am not a ‘fireworks lady’ but was honestly gasping with awe for all the 15 minutes: delighted to see over 1 1/2 million around the Harbour foreshores, so many having flown in . . .

    1. Hi Kiki, We are working on our travel plans now and are hoping to work in Germany at the end of this year’s trip. You know how much we enjoy visiting your country. 😀

      1. Well, I’ve had a few unexpected offers from fellow bloggers to meet up while I was traveling in their area, so if you would like to meet – even if just for a cup of coffe – get in touch!

  2. All the best in 2019 to you and yours, Karen! And thank you so much for all of your blog visits and kind comments.

    Cheers to more adventures!

    1. Thank you Heather, the same to you. I hope your Colorado weather has been good lately with just the right amount of snow to make it pretty but not enough to make it a problem.

  3. Here’s wishing you best dishes and wishes and travel for the year 2019. Do you have any trips lined up? Last year was a busy one for us, and this year is proving to be pretty much the same, but I always say, “do it when one is able”, who knows what lies around the corner for us eh?

    1. Thank you for your nice wishes Loretta. We are in the planning stage of this year’s trip, if it works out it will be another cruise to places familiar and some we’ve never been to. I’m looking forward to where you are headed and I totally agree with your thinking…definitely do it while you are able, no day is guaranteed.

  4. Bonne Année, Miss Karen! do hope you had French genuine champagne for the réveillon… cheers! 🙂

    1. Thank you for your lovely compliment on the photo, Joanne. Yes I did take it…it was a fireworks display across the lake from our summer home in Maine that I had never published. I’m glad you enjoyed it.

  6. Happy New Year Karen! I sure look forward to more traveling through your trips! Due to physical problems, my trips are local and limiting so seeing the world here at Back Road is something I always look forward to.

    1. I appreciate your kind words MJ, It makes me feel good to know that you enjoy following along on our adventures. I’ll be sharing another wonderful city that we visited very soon. Here is to a healthy new year.

    1. Thank you Abbe, I’m definitely looking forward to new adventures this year. In the meantime, I’ll be enjoying the new comfort dishes you will be creating.

  7. What a lovely way to usher in the new year! I went to bed early on the 31st. I’m not much at night anyway, but I also have a cold…that will be my excuse. LOL! Wishing you a wonderful new year, dear Karen.
